After Christmas Toy Roundup

Anyone else have to do this??

Now that Christmas is behind us, I try to reflect on when I was a child. How long did my presents last? I think I remember hearing my own parents trying to convince us not to open up all our gifts in December or January. They wanted us to save some for those rainy days.

Now, at our house,  Santa came and went, and each girl got their own stack of gifts. However, in just a few weeks time, I'm plagued by itty bitty pieces everywhere!! I'm talking sequins, buttons, barbie clothes & accessories, game pieces, markers, crayons, scrapbooking supplies, glitter glue, magnet dots, and game cards!  I have the task of rounding them all up and saving whatever I can in hopes I can break it out on a bored day!

So, I spend days and days and days on my hands and knees in their rooms, picking up tiny sequins and beads, etc...

What was 3 packs of crayons are now "community" crayons

Same goes for markers, all the many different kinds...now they are all mingling together... like a little marker party!!

This is just a tip of the iceberg! But, a mothers work is never done, right??

In the end, I'm hoping to keep them all busy through the rest of winter. Our first birthday starts in March and we don't stop til August!! :) So, I'm wondering, do you do a After Christmas Toy Roundup?? :D Let me know, I'd love to hear your methods!

Til next time

Quaker Real Medleys Oatmeal +

I have a new obsession I have to share! It's Quaker Oatmeal, only new and updated, upgraded and graduated! (thanks Eminem!) I particulary like the Apple Walnut variety, which has walnuts, sweet apples, tasty cranberries and of course multi-grains. They are super easy to make, just add hot water to the line inside the cup, put the lid back on, put on your mascara or any other 2 minute task, and waaaa laaa. Hearty, healthy, and delicious oatmeal! And no need to even dirty a bowl!! I love that it is so portable! You could probably eat it at a red light! (although I do not recommend eating and driving!)

There are 4 Varieties Cherry Pistachio
Apple Walnut

Peach Almond

And Summer Berry

Quaker Oatmeal isn't like you remember as a kid.... it's better!!

For more information check out The Quaker Website and also the Real Medleys Oatmeal + Website

I was given a complimentary Cherry Pistachio Oatmeal + to try by +Influenster in my #HolidayVoxBox

My opinions are always my own.

More about my Goody QuikStyle

Sooo.. if I haven't raved enough about my Quikstyle brush from Goody, I have to some more! Not only does it dry my hair and my girls hair before having to leave the house in January (major +) but it definitely adds to my style. I always try to use a paddle brush, because it adds volume and lift to my sorta lifeless hair (don't judge me!) So, it just makes sense that while you are drying your hair with the quick style, you are lifting and adding body and bounce!! It's fantastic!

Here's more about how much I love the GoodyQuikstyle brush with my Other Post

At only $12, it's priced about the same as other brushes. Why wouldn't you??

Holiday Vox Box 2012 Check it out!!!!!!!

Hey everyone! So, I'm on Influenster (@Influenster) and right before Christmas, I received a Holiday Vox Box. Basically, it's a box filled with products for me to check out and share how I liked them. I received 5 products and a coupon code (well, technically 2 because I can share the wonderful code WITH YOU! How awesome is that?!)

Here is a list of the products I received, along with contant info (twitter) and #hashtags to learn more!!

My favorite product so far is the quikstyle brush. ($12) I love that the brush dries my hair about twice as quick. I have average thickness hair. I also use it on my daughters hair (all 4 of them!) and they all think it's great, too!  I especially love it on cold winter mornings when I don't want them to leave for school with wet hair. We shower and brush their hair first, and when it's time to leave, their hair is almost completely dry after using the Quickstyle brush.
Another bonus, wet it and run it through dry hair if you need smoothing power without using a product. It works wonders that way as well!!

My second favorite product would be the EBOOST drink. ($28 for 20 packets $39 for box of 12 shots) I received pink lemonade packet, and it gave me just the boost I needed! I drank it while making dinner, and by the end of the night, I had gotten so much done! I didn't crash at all! I wasn't really into the tast of the drink, but the effects were worth it in my opinion.

I have tried Quaker Oatmeal the same week my sample arrived, and while I didn't care for the variety I received in my #HolidayVoxBox, there are some really amazing flavors to try. I urge you! Sales and coupons makes these really affordable to us frugal moms!!!

I have not tried the Kiss Nail Dress or the NYC Lip Color, keep your eyes peeled for my reviews coming soooooon!!!!

Now on to the coupon code.

Sole Society sent me a coupon code and one to share with my readers!!

Being a Veg amongst a houseful of Paleos

I am having a very hard writing this blog post for some reason, I'm not sure exactly why. I am very proud of myself for staying vegetarian since April 22nd, 2012. I remember the day, what we were doing, and the last bite of meat I had eaten. It was off a Subway chicken flatbread sandwich  and I remember thinking that was going to be my last bite. Now, I am not here to ruin anyones dinner, so if you think that by reading my post you will undoubtedly lose your appetite for meat, you should quit reading this now. You may have a weak constitution to begin with, and don't want a push in the right direction. But, that's what I had... I have flirted with the concept of vegetarianism since about 12. Let's rewind some more though, shall we?

Age 2: Typical dinner at my home, however afterward, my parents said I was no where to be found.  They looked all over the house for me, calling my name. Guess where I was?? Behind the fridge, gnawing on a T-Bone Bone. Yup. They still remind me of this as well... :) Kinda funny.

Age 2 and up... I was affectionately given the nick name "I'llEatIt" which means, well, I would clear your plate for you if you were full before your plate were empty... I finished everyones plates...lol....

Flash forward to the teenage years: I was thinking about going vegetarian, but I thought it was hard when my dad was filling our freezer with venison every fall.   I thought it would be more feasible when I moved out on my own and bought my own groceries. Until I got older and had to buy groceries...

So, here I am today, and I made the decision, finally, to take the leap and go vegetarian... And I am very proud of myself. It has been, single handedly, the easiest decision I have made my whole life. Now, this is coming from someone who loooved meat... A LOT. Lasagna, Tacos, Steak, Eggs, Chicken Sandwiches  Breakfast Sausage you name, I loved it.  However, when I made the switch, I didn't stop just eating meat in general. No, I went extreme if you will. I felt I HAD to stop eating Eggs and Drinking Milk. My love for Cream Cheese and Sour Cream went out the window then too... No more Reese Puffs Cereal either, until I find a suitable replacement for milk in my cereal... So, even though it may SEEM like I am feeling down about my choice, I think that how crystal clear my conscience has become is such a greater benefit that any sugary cereal ever was. That fact alone tells me I am making the right decision. I have never been more sure about something.

So... are you wondering yet what did it for me?? It wasn't just moving out on my own, it wasn't that the cost of produce suddenly dropped (because we all know it hasn't!!) It was a documentary. Yep. I guess I'd seen enough at that point. I haven't gotten another pet yet either... I'm thinking about the clothes and make-up I wear in a huge way. I will no longer attend a circus or other "amusement" that exploits animals.

I need help though! I have very little ideas when it comes to eating... I've been living on a very limited diet since making my change. I have a juicer I should be putting to better use, but I'm seriously living on starches, fruits and salad. I need to up my nutrition, because the point isn't to live unhealthy, it's to be healthier. So, I need to do my research, and reach out to others about my situation. I have been following blogs that have what I am looking for... I'm gonna just keep on keeping on!! :)

I have to make a doctors appointment to do blood work and have a check up, since I had not spoke to my GP before I started my change. I haven't been to the doctors since either.  I will make an appointement and let you all know how it goes. *fingers crossed* I have lost over 12 pounds so far, and I have broken all the dieting rules, such as eating late, eating lots of carbs, drinking beer, not working out very much... geez should I really admit all that!?

Well, it's lunch-time, and the baby wants strawberries! Gotta go! Publishing for now, I will be editing soon!! :)
